PSHE
As a school, we follow ‘Jigsaw PSHE’. Jigsaw is a scheme of work, aiming to prepare children for life, helping them really know and value who they truly are and understand how they relate to other people in this ever-changing world.
This gives our children a strong sense of belonging within our school and the wider community. Jigsaw focusses on mindfulness and mental wellbeing which as a school we think is incredibly important. This further supports our teaching of the recovery curriculum after school closures in March 2020.
We believe in helping engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.
Every year group follows the same topics of learning each term, however the learning is tailored to the children’s age and stage. The children gain a deeper understanding of the topic each year as they revisit these topics. This ensures progression of skills and knowledge. Within the topic ‘relationships’ covered in Summer term 1, all statutory RSE topics are covered. We ensure parents are informed about the lessons taking place with parent workshops and relevant literature being provided. This ensures parents can support their children at home through this learning and feel prepared for any important topics their children may wish to discuss with them.
