Science
At Rugby Free Primary School, we encourage children to be inquisitive throughout their time at the school and beyond. The Science curriculum fosters a healthy curiosity in children about our universe and promotes respect for the living and non-living.
We believe science encompasses the acquisition of knowledge, concepts, skills and positive attitudes. Throughout the programmes of study, the children will acquire and develop the key knowledge that has been identified within each unit and across each year group.
We believe in helping engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.
The Science curriculum has been designed so that our pupils can build upon their conceptual knowledge year on year and this is taught through the Science concepts. Within this, the children are exposed to rich scientific vocabulary and are able to apply this knowledge when working on their disciplinary knowledge. At Rugby Free Primary School, our pupils are equipped with the skills to work scientifically and can communicate their findings in a variety of ways. The Rugby Free Scientist not only understands the science covered in the classroom but can make links with the outside world.
